Avalon Waterways and its related companies* have adopted this Privacy Policy to ensure that we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information in accordance with the Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1993.

We collect personal data from the following sources:
• By you contacting us enquiring about information on the services we provide or anything on this Website;
• Directly from you when you register and request us to supply you with information or services in connection with this Website;
• By you conducting transactions through the Website; and
• Indirectly through your use of this Website and the services and functionality offered through it.

Avalon Waterways collects personal information from a wide variety of sources including this Web Site, during telephone calls and directly from customers, distributors and suppliers.
Avalon Waterways collects, holds and uses personal information in the following areas:

Consumer information is usually collected via promotions, competitions and consumer queries. Information may include:

• information required to travel overseas, including passport and itinerary details

Wherever possible, Avalon Waterways collects this information directly from you.  The Privacy Act requires that, other than for certain specified exceptions, we will only use your personal information for the purpose for which it was collected, or a purpose directly related to that purpose or any other purpose authorised by you. Some of the purposes for which we commonly collect and use your personal information are as follows:
• to contact you directly about Avalon Waterways, its brands, special offers and other promotions
• to reward you for being a loyal Avalon Waterways customer
• to inform you of Avalon Waterways products, promotions or publications we think may interest you
• to approve transactions you wish to make
• to confirm your identity
• to provide you with products you have requested
• to follow up or pursue any queries you make
• to enable us to contact people nominated by you in case of emergency while you are participating in a Avalon Waterways holiday
• to conduct consumer research.

However, we may also use your personal information for any other purpose which we notify you of at the time the personal information is collected or as permitted under the Act.

How we manage personal information
Avalon Waterways is dedicated to keeping personal information secure. This includes physical security, computer and network security, communications security and personnel security. The entire Avalon Waterways Privacy Policy is available by contacting the Avalon Waterways Privacy Officer - contact details are outlined below under 'Access and correction of details'.  We store personal information securely at the address detailed below, and also at our local offices throughout New Zealand, as required.

In the case of promotions, competitions & other marketing activities for consumers - all entries become the property of Avalon Waterways (and any third parties conducting joint promotions with Avalon Waterways).
Avalon Waterways supports permission-based marketing. Where you provide consent, Avalon Waterways may enter your details into a database for the purpose of contacting you directly about Avalon Waterways, its brands, special offers, consumer research and other promotions.

You can advise us if you would prefer not to be directly contacted by us by contacting the Avalon Waterways Privacy Officer. Contact details are outlined below under 'Access and correction of details'.

Disclosure
We recognise that some of the information you choose to supply may be personal information. We will not disclose your personal information to a third party except where such disclosure is one of the purposes for which the information was obtained (or directly related to that purpose) or where the disclosure is otherwise consistent with (or required by) the law.
Except where you are otherwise notified, Avalon Waterways does not sell, rent or otherwise make available any personal information to third parties. Avalon Waterways outsources certain business functions to other organisations. For this purpose, and only for the purpose of providing services to Avalon Waterways (or a directly related purpose), personal information may, as required, be disclosed, transferred to or handled by:
• our related companies
• organisations which provide services to us, such as mailing houses, promotion and advertising agencies and consumer research agencies
• credit reference agencies or other credit providers
• government or statutory authorities.
These organisations may directly contact you on behalf of Avalon Waterways.

How long we hold personal information
We will keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy.

Access and correction of details
You can access personal information Avalon Waterways holds on you by contacting the Avalon Waterways Privacy Officer in writing.
If the information held is inaccurate, incomplete or not up to date you may request Avalon Waterways to correct the information. You have the right to access and seek correction of any personal information we hold about you in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993, except where covered by an exception under the Act.
